There are two transportation networks in Hong Kong, namely the road network and the rail network.

The vehicle density in Hong Kong road network is among the highest in the world. According to the Highway Department, HKSAR, "there were over 578,122 licensed vehicles and only 1,890 kilometres of roads - 429 kilometres on Hong Kong Island, 441 kilometres in Kowloon and 1,020 kilometres in the New Territories." In this network, "there are 11 major road tunnels, 1013 flyovers and bridges, 557 footbridges and 337 subways."
